Hoiana Resort & Golf Review (2026): A Rainy Day, a Kids’ Club and a US$500 Suite
Hoiana Resort & Golf Review (2026): A Rainy Day, a Kids’ Club and a US$500 Suite
Last updated: October 2026
Thanks to @hoianaresortgolf (Hoiana Resort & Golf) for hosting our night at New World Hoiana Hotel. The suite stay we paid for ourselves. All opinions our own.
We planned a perfect family day in Hoi An Old Town. Then it rained. All day. Not a passing shower, the proper Central Vietnam kind of rain that turns the lantern streets into rivers of ponchos. The good news: we were staying at Hoiana Resort & Golf, and it turned a washed-out day into a great, fun day for the whole family. I am a Da Nang local, and I travelled with my partner and our two young daughters. We have stayed at Hoiana twice now: one hosted night at New World Hoiana Hotel, and a second stay in a suite that I paid for myself, at over US$500 a night. Here is my honest review of both.

Quick answer: is Hoiana Resort & Golf worth it?
Yes, if you want an all-in-one beach resort where the whole family is entertained even when the weather is bad. Hoiana has about 4 km of beachfront, a golf course ranked among the world’s top 100, a huge kids’ club, bowling, arcade games, mini golf, 20+ restaurants and NOX Beach Club. The trade-offs: it is a 30–40 minute drive from Hoi An Old Town, the resort is so big you rely on buggies, and prices are premium.

Visiting Hoi An in rainy season? Hoiana is the perfect plan B
If rain ruins your Hoi An plans, Hoiana is one of the best places nearby to spend the day. Almost everything we loved there is indoors: the kids’ club, the Game Zone arcade, bowling, glow-in-the-dark mini golf, virtual golf, the Sport Bar and a long list of restaurants. You can fill a full day and evening without getting wet, which is rare for a beach resort.
Central Vietnam’s rainy season brings the heaviest rain in the autumn months, and October to December is when we see the most wet days in Da Nang and Hoi An (see my best time to visit Da Nang guide and the Sept–Dec weather forecast). That is exactly what happened to us. We still went to the Old Town in the morning and walked to the Japanese Covered Bridge (Chùa Cầu) in our ponchos, but with two little girls, soggy shoes and no sign of the rain stopping, we gave up and headed back to the resort.

Back at Hoiana, the day completely changed. The girls ran from the kids’ club to the arcade to the bowling lanes, the grown-ups had a go on the virtual golf, and by dinner the rain did not matter any more. If you are visiting Hoi An between October and December, my advice is simple: book one night at Hoiana as your rainy-day insurance, and keep the Old Town for the first dry morning.

Planning the rest of a wet trip? My rainy day in Da Nang guide has 13 indoor ideas in the city, and my Hoi An guide covers the Old Town for when the sun comes back.
Our room at New World Hoiana Hotel
Our hosted night was at New World Hoiana Hotel, one of the hotels inside the resort. The room felt calm the moment we walked in: an entry with a vanity and bathrobes waiting, a quiet bedroom in soft neutral tones, a walk-in wardrobe, and a window seat behind sheer curtains where I could sit with a coffee and watch the rain. The balcony looks over the green of the golf course to the sea beyond. Even on a grey day, it was a beautiful view. A room like ours costs about US$170 a night with breakfast included when we stayed. Room prices vary by season, so check rates for your dates.

Beyond the room, the hotel also has an infinity pool with a kids’ area, a spa, a gym and beach yoga, according to this review of New World Hoiana Hotel. I did not review those on this stay.
Things to do at Hoiana (most of them indoors)
Hoiana’s entertainment is the reason it works so well for families. The resort has a Game Zone, virtual golf, mini golf, a Sport Bar and a 2,700 m² kids’ club that TTG Asia describes as Vietnam’s largest. Here is what we did, in the order the girls dragged us through it.
The kids’ club: my girls’ favourite part
If you ask my daughters, the kids’ club was the best part of the whole trip. Bright colours, a ball pit and slides, and plenty of space to run around, with comfortable chairs for parents nearby. I recommend asking at check-in what is included for your room type and whether any activities have a fee, as I did not see a full price list.

Game Zone: arcade, racing sims and air hockey
A neon arcade with racing simulators, air hockey and a lot of flashing lights. This is the place to burn energy on a rainy afternoon.
Bowling
Glowing lanes and racks of colourful balls. Bowling is one activity the whole family can play together, and it is a great way to spend an hour before dinner.

Virtual golf and glow-in-the-dark mini golf
For the adults, the virtual golf simulator is a fun taste of the real course without the rain: you hit real balls into a big screen showing a full golf hole. For the kids, the glow-in-the-dark mini golf is pure fun, with neon lights, bright obstacles and numbered holes that kept them counting.

Sport Bar: big screens and karaoke
The Sport Bar has big screens for live sport, comfortable seating and karaoke. It is a relaxed place for a drink while the kids play, and a good option for groups of friends in the evening.

The casino (foreign passport holders only)
Hoiana also has a casino, and even if you do not play, the entrance hall with its giant lotus chandelier is worth a look. Note that entry is for foreign passport holders only, so bring your passport (source).

Food and drink at Hoiana
You will not go hungry at Hoiana: the resort has more than 20 restaurants and bars, so you can eat well for days without leaving. These are the places we tried.
The breakfast buffet
The breakfast buffet was huge: bamboo baskets of dim sum, plenty of hot dishes and a table of fresh cakes. Go hungry and take your time.
Coffee at Cộng Cà Phê
When we needed a break, we grabbed coffee at Cộng Cà Phê (Cong Caphe), the Vietnamese café chain, at the resort. Order a coconut coffee if you have not tried one yet.
Dinner under the lanterns
Our favourite meal was dinner at a Vietnamese restaurant under a ceiling of colourful silk lanterns. After a day without the Old Town, it felt like Hoi An had come to us. It is a lovely room for a relaxed Vietnamese dinner with the family.

NOX Beach Club and the Courtyard Bar
In the evening we went to NOX Beach Club. The pool at blue hour, with the lit pavilion glowing over the water, is the most beautiful view in the resort. The Beach Club Bar is open daily from 11 AM until late, with a happy hour from 5 to 7 PM and 50% off selected drinks (official page). We finished at the open-air Courtyard Bar, which opens from 5:30 to 10:30 PM (official page). Hours can change, so check with the resort.

Our rainy-day itinerary at Hoiana
- Morning: big breakfast buffet, then a (wet) walk to Chùa Cầu in Hoi An Old Town
- Late morning: back to the resort and straight to the kids’ club
- Lunch and coffee: a resort restaurant, then Cộng Cà Phê
- Afternoon: Game Zone, bowling, virtual golf and glow-in-the-dark mini golf
- Early evening: NOX Beach Club pool at blue hour (happy hour 5–7 PM)
- Dinner: Vietnamese food under the lanterns
- Night: a last drink at the Courtyard Bar or the Sport Bar
The US$500 suite: was it worth it?
For a special occasion, yes. On another trip, I booked a suite at Hoiana myself, and it cost us over US$500 per night. The living room looks out to the sea, the balcony faces the villas, gardens and the ocean, and there is a full dining table under pendant lights, big enough for a family dinner in the room.

The bedroom is quiet and soft, there is a vanity, a walk-in closet, and the star of the suite: a freestanding bathtub right by the window with a sea view. If you book a suite, save time for a long bath with that view.
The perk that makes the suite worth it: suite guests get access to a different buffet room where you can eat all day long, not just at breakfast. With two hungry kids, that is a big plus.

My honest take: if you are coming for one night with kids and plan to spend the day in the kids’ club and Game Zone, a regular room (about US$170 a night with breakfast when we stayed; prices vary by season) is plenty. The suite is for honeymoons, anniversaries or a family that wants space, a view to come back to and food available all day.
Golf at Hoiana Shores Golf Club
For golfers, Hoiana Shores Golf Club is the main reason to come. The 18-hole, par-71 course was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and was named in Golf World’s Top 100 Golf Courses in the World 2023, the only Vietnamese course on that list (source). In 2024, it was ranked 18th in the Top 100 Golf Courses of Asia (source). We did not play this time, but from our balcony the course runs green all the way to the sea.
Who is Hoiana for, and who should skip it?
Hoiana is great for
- Families with young kids: the kids’ club, Game Zone, bowling and mini golf keep children happy, rain or shine.
- Couples celebrating something: a sea-view suite, NOX Beach Club at sunset and good restaurants without leaving the resort.
- Golfers: a world top-100 course on site.
- Rainy-season travellers: the best plan B near Hoi An when the weather turns.
- Anyone who wants everything in one place and does not want to plan every meal.
Skip it if
- You want to walk to Hoi An Old Town every evening. Stay in town instead (see where to stay).
- You are on a tight budget. Resort prices are premium.
- You want a small, quiet boutique hotel. Hoiana is big and busy.
Honest cons
- It is far from the Old Town. Hoi An Old Town is about 30–40 minutes by car, so you depend on the resort shuttle or Grab.
- The resort is huge. You will rely on buggies to get between hotels, restaurants and the beach club. With small kids, allow extra time.
- The casino is for foreigners only. Vietnamese citizens cannot enter, and foreign guests need their passport.
- Prices are premium. Rooms, food and drinks cost more than in Hoi An or Da Nang city. Look out for happy hours and packages.
How to get to Hoiana Resort & Golf
The easiest way is the resort’s free shuttle bus, which runs from Da Nang Airport, Da Nang downtown and Hoi An to Hoiana. Check the current timetable on the official getting-here page or with the hotel before you travel. Otherwise, take a Grab or taxi: from Hoi An Old Town, it is about a 30–40 minute drive.
- From Da Nang Airport: free resort shuttle (check times), Grab or a private transfer.
- From Hoi An Old Town: free shuttle or Grab, about 30–40 minutes.
- Inside the resort: buggies between hotels, restaurants and NOX Beach Club.
Coming from Hue? The Hue to Da Nang heritage train is a beautiful way to arrive in Da Nang first.
Tips before you go
- Bring your passport if you want to visit the casino (foreign passport holders only).
- Ask at check-in about kids’ club access, activity fees and the shuttle timetable.
- Time NOX Beach Club for 5–7 PM to catch happy hour and blue hour together.
- In rainy season, keep one dry morning free for Hoi An Old Town and the Hoi An Memories show.
- Add a day trip: Cham Island is a great sunny-day escape from Hoi An.
- Book through a trusted platform and watch out for fake hotel pages (read my hotel booking scam guide).
