Son Tra Night Market Da Nang: My Honest Take, What to Eat & the Dragon Bridge Plan (2026)
Son Tra Night Market Da Nang: My Honest Take, What to Eat & the Dragon Bridge Plan (2026)
Last updated: October 2026
Let me be honest: Son Tra Night Market (Chợ đêm Sơn Trà) is not where I eat or shop as a local. It is a tourist market. But I still send visitors here, for two good reasons: you can try lots of traditional Vietnamese street food and seafood in one place, and it is the easiest way to kill time before the Dragon Bridge fire show, which happens right next door. Here is what to eat, what to skip, and how to plan your evening.
In this guide: Quick facts · My honest take · What to eat · Shopping · Evening plan with the Dragon Bridge · Tips · FAQ
Quick facts: Son Tra Night Market
- Vietnamese name: Chợ đêm Sơn Trà
- Where: along Mai Hắc Đế and Lý Nam Đế streets, An Hải, Sơn Trà, at the east end of the Dragon Bridge
- Hours: every evening, from about 6 PM until late (listings say around midnight)
- Entry: free
- Best for: trying Vietnamese street food and seafood in one place, and waiting for the Dragon Bridge fire show (Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 9 PM)
- Example prices I saw: rolled ice cream 30,000 VND; leather belts 250,000 VND (fixed price)

My honest take: is Son Tra Night Market worth it?
If you want local prices and local food, this is not the place. Most stalls sell the same souvenirs, toys, bags and clothes you see in every tourist market, and the seafood is priced for visitors. For a real local market, go to Con Market or Le Duan Night Market instead.
But it does two things well. First, if it is your first time in Vietnam, you can walk one street and see grilled seafood, skewers, bánh tráng nướng, fresh fruit and sugarcane juice side by side, and try a bit of everything. Second, it is right at the Dragon Bridge, so it is the perfect place to spend an hour before the fire show (Friday to Sunday, 9 PM).

What to eat at Son Tra Night Market
- Grilled seafood: prawns, lobster, squid and fish are laid out on ice. You pick, they grill it for you. Seafood is sold by weight, so always ask the price first.
- Scallops and oysters with scallion oil (mỡ hành), grilled in the shell.
- Skewers and grilled meat: pork, chicken, sausages and roast pork (heo quay).
- Bánh tráng nướng, grilled rice paper, sometimes called “Vietnamese pizza”.
- Grilled corn and sweet potato.
- Rolled ice cream, 30,000 VND a cup at the stall I filmed.
- Fresh fruit, coconuts and sugarcane juice (nước mía).
- Dried and candied fruit to snack on while you walk.

Shopping at Son Tra Night Market
Expect souvenirs, conical hats, tote bags, toys and figurines, model cars, belts, clothes and packs of Vietnamese coffee. Some stalls have fixed prices: one belt stall I filmed had a sign saying 250,000 VND, please don’t bargain. Where there is no price sign, ask first and bargain politely.

Evening plan: Son Tra Night Market + Dragon Bridge fire show
- 7 PM: walk the stalls
- 7:30 PM: eat: grab a table and order seafood, skewers and a sugarcane juice
- 8:30 PM: walk to the river. The best spots for the show fill up fast
- 9 PM (Friday, Saturday and Sunday): the Dragon Bridge breathes fire and water
