Da Nang Bus Guide 2026: Hoi An, Hue & Ba Na Hills by Public Bus (Routes, Fares, Tips)
Da Nang Bus Guide 2026: Hoi An, Hue & Ba Na Hills by Public Bus (Routes, Fares, Tips)
You don’t need a tour or a private car to see Central Vietnam. Public buses link Da Nang with Hoi An, Hue and Ba Na Hills, and most rides cost between 8,000 and 80,000 VND (about US$0.30–3). I’ve put together the routes that matter for travellers, where to catch them, what they cost in 2026 and the little tricks that make bus travel here easy.

The 4 bus routes travellers actually need
| Trip | Route | From → to | Fare (2026) | Hours |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Da Nang → Hoi An | 02 | Da Nang Central Bus Station → Da Nang City Hall → Hoi An → Cửa Đại | 8,000–30,000 VND | about 5:30 AM–6 PM, every 20–30 min |
| Airport → Hoi An | 01SB | Da Nang International Airport → Hoi An → Cửa Đại | 8,000–30,000 VND | about 5:30 AM–6 PM, every 20–30 min |
| Da Nang → Ba Na Hills | 03 | Da Nang Airport → city centre → Ba Na Hills parking area | 15,000–30,000 VND (or the free Sun World shuttle) | see the Ba Na section below |
| Da Nang → Hue | LK01 | Da Nang Central Bus Station → Hai Van Tunnel → Hue South Bus Station | 80,000 VND | 5:30 AM–7 PM, every 14–15 min |
On routes 01SB, 02 and 03 the fare depends on how far you ride. On 01SB and 02 it’s 8,000 VND for up to 10 km, 20,000 VND for 10–25 km and 30,000 VND for anything longer. So a full ride from Da Nang to Hoi An costs 30,000 VND, about US$1.20.
How to get from Da Nang to Hoi An by bus (Route 02 and 01SB)
Route 02 is the classic way to get to Hoi An. It starts at the Da Nang Central Bus Station (Bến xe Trung tâm, 201 Tôn Đức Thắng), passes the city administration centre on Trần Phú near the Han River, crosses the Tiên Sơn Bridge and runs south past the beaches. In Hoi An it stops at the Hoi An bus station on Nguyễn Tất Thành, then continues along Lý Thường Kiệt and Trần Nhân Tông towards Cửa Đại. For the Old Town, ask the conductor for the stop nearest Phố cổ. The Lý Thường Kiệt stops are a short walk away.
Route 01SB is the one to take if you’ve just landed: it runs from Da Nang International Airport along the coast to Hoi An and Cửa Đại. The ride can take 60–90 minutes depending on traffic, so it’s slower than a Grab, but it costs a fraction of the price.
Step by step: Da Nang → Hoi An
- Find a Route 02 stop. Start at the Da Nang Central Bus Station (201 Tôn Đức Thắng), or catch it on the way at a stop on Trần Phú near the Han River, or anywhere on the route that’s closer to your hotel (the DanaBus app or Google Maps shows the stops).
- Look for “02” on the front of the bus, wave it down and get on through the front door.
- Pay the conductor 30,000 VND in cash for the full ride (less if you get on further south).
- Sit back for about an hour, depending on traffic, as the bus runs down the coast past the beaches.
- Get off in Hoi An. For the Old Town, get off at the Hoi An bus station on Nguyễn Tất Thành or a Lý Thường Kiệt stop, then walk or take a short Grab. For Cửa Đại, stay on to the end of the line.
Coming back to Da Nang: catch Route 02 going north on the same roads. The last buses leave around 6 PM, so after a lantern-lit evening in the Old Town you’ll need a Grab back (roughly 45 minutes).
Straight from the airport: take Route 01SB from Da Nang International Airport. It has the same fares and runs all the way to Hoi An and Cửa Đại.

How to get from Da Nang to Ba Na Hills by bus (Route 03 + free shuttle)

Route 03 runs from Da Nang International Airport through the city (Nguyễn Văn Linh, Điện Biên Phủ, Tôn Đức Thắng and Hoàng Văn Thái) to the Ba Na Hills parking area. A ride under half the route costs 15,000 VND and a longer one 30,000 VND. The city tourism portal lists buses leaving the airport from about 7 AM to 6 PM and leaving Ba Na from about 8 AM to 7 PM. Check the last bus back before you go up the mountain, and leave yourself time for the cable car queue.
Even better: the FREE Sun World shuttle bus
Since 8 August 2026, Sun World Ba Na Hills has run a free shuttle bus from central and coastal Da Nang straight to the park. Seats are limited, so Sun World asks you to register one day ahead by scanning their QR code (it’s on the official Sun World shuttle page). The ride takes about 75–80 minutes each way. The bus is free, but you still need your Ba Na Hills park ticket.
| Free shuttle | Times |
|---|---|
| Da Nang → Sun World Ba Na Hills | 8:30 AM and 9:30 AM (from Novotel) |
| Sun World Ba Na Hills → Da Nang | 4:00 PM |
| Price | Free (register 1 day ahead; park ticket not included) |
Pick-up points (in order). The shuttle only stops at these places, not along the road:
- Novotel Danang Premier Han River, 36–38 Bạch Đằng (leaves at 8:30 and 9:30)
- East Sea Park (Công viên Biển Đông)
- The bus stop opposite My Khe Beach, next to DLG Hotel
- The bus stop opposite Vegas Club
- The guest pick-up lobby at 99 Võ Nguyên Giáp
My tip: register the day before and be at your pick-up point 10–15 minutes early. The times above are when the bus leaves Novotel, so it reaches the beach stops a little later. There’s only one return time (4 PM), so don’t miss it. If you do, Route 03 runs until early evening.
The bus only gets you to the foot of the mountain. The Sun World Ba Na Hills ticket (with the cable car) is separate, so buy it at the gate or in advance. Here’s everything you need to know about Sun World Ba Na Hills and the 10 best things to do up there.
How to get from Da Nang to Hue by bus (Route LK01)
LK01 is the bus between Da Nang and Hue. It leaves the Da Nang Central Bus Station, goes through the Hai Van Tunnel and follows National Highway 1A for about 100 km to the Hue South Bus Station (Bến xe phía Nam). It runs every 14–15 minutes from 5:30 AM to 7 PM, and a ticket costs 80,000 VND. Allow around 3 hours with stops. From the Hue South Bus Station, a short Grab ride takes you to the Imperial City or your hotel.
Step by step: Da Nang → Hue
- Go to the Da Nang Central Bus Station (Bến xe Trung tâm, 201 Tôn Đức Thắng), by Grab or on a city bus.
- Find the LK01 bus to Huế. One leaves every 14–15 minutes from 5:30 AM.
- Pay 80,000 VND on board.
- Ride through the Hai Van Tunnel to the Hue South Bus Station (Bến xe phía Nam). Allow around 3 hours.
- Take a short Grab to your hotel or the Imperial City.
Hue → Da Nang: do the same in reverse. Take LK01 from the Hue South Bus Station to the Da Nang Central Bus Station. The last bus leaves around 7 PM.

My tip: take the bus one way and the Hue – Da Nang Heritage Train the other. The bus is cheap and frequent, and the train gives you the coastline over the Hai Van Pass that the tunnel skips.
How to get from Hue to Hoi An by bus (and Hoi An to Hue)
There’s no direct public bus between Hue and Hoi An, but it’s easy with one change in Da Nang. Both buses use the Da Nang Central Bus Station, so you just walk from one bus to the next. In total it costs 110,000 VND (about US$4.50); allow 4–5 hours with the change.
Step by step: Hue → Hoi An
- Take a Grab to the Hue South Bus Station (Bến xe phía Nam).
- Take LK01 to the Da Nang Central Bus Station (80,000 VND, around 3 hours, through the Hai Van Tunnel).
- At the same station, change to Route 02 to Hoi An (30,000 VND, about an hour).
- Get off at the Hoi An bus station or a Lý Thường Kiệt stop for the Old Town.
Leave Hue by late morning. Route 02’s last buses leave Da Nang around 6 PM, so you need to reach the Da Nang Central Bus Station by mid-afternoon.
Step by step: Hoi An → Hue
- Catch Route 02 heading to Da Nang from a stop on Lý Thường Kiệt or Nguyễn Tất Thành, and ride to the end at the Da Nang Central Bus Station (30,000 VND).
- Change to LK01 to Huế (80,000 VND).
- Get off at the Hue South Bus Station and take a Grab to your hotel.
Hoi An → Ba Na Hills: take Route 02 into Da Nang, then the free Sun World shuttle (from its pick-up points in the city) or Route 03. It’s a long day by bus, so a shared shuttle or Grab from Hoi An can be worth the extra cost.
Faster option with luggage: private limousine vans and tourist buses run Hoi An – Hue directly in about 3–4 hours for roughly 150,000–300,000 VND, with hotel pick-up. Book on Vexere or through your hotel.
Da Nang’s new electric buses: what to look for
In 2026 Da Nang started switching its city buses to electric. Look for blue buses marked “Xe buýt điện” (electric bus): they are quiet, air-conditioned Kim Long buses run by DanaBus with FUTA Bus Lines (Phương Trang). The routes travellers use most were among the first to change: Route 03 to Ba Na Hills switched in August 2026, and Route 02 to Hoi An followed at the end of August. You may still see red-and-yellow FUTA minibuses on some routes.

How to board: check the route number on the windscreen, get on at the front door marked “Cửa lên” (Entrance), pay or show your ticket, and get off at the back door marked “Cửa xuống” (Exit).

How to pay and find your bus
- Cash on board: pay the conductor with small notes (10,000s and 20,000s). Nobody will have change for a 500,000 note.
- DanaBus app: look up routes and stops, track the bus live and buy e-tickets with a QR code (paid through VNPay or MoMo).
- Google Maps: the transit directions show most routes. Check the route number on the front of the bus before you get on.
- Hotline: DanaBus, 0236 3711 468 (6:30 AM–6:30 PM), or follow the Danabus – xe buýt Đà Nẵng Facebook page for timetable changes.
My tips for bus travel in Central Vietnam
- Watch the last bus. Most city routes stop around 6 PM, and LK01 around 7 PM. After that, use Grab.
- Wave the bus down. Stand at a marked bus stop and raise your hand when you see your route number.
- Front door in, back door out. DanaBus asks passengers to board at the front door and get off at the back. Listen for the stop announcements and press the bell before your stop.
- Show your stop. Have the name of your stop or hotel written in Vietnamese on your phone and show it to the conductor. They’ll tell you when to get off.
- Keep luggage small. A backpack or carry-on is fine. With big suitcases, a Grab or a limousine van is more comfortable.
- Avoid rush hour. Around 7–8 AM and 5–6 PM, buses into and out of the city are slower and fuller.
- Check before festivals. At Tết and other big holidays, DanaBus publishes special timetables.
