Last updated: October 2026
Bánh mì is the one thing I tell every visitor to eat on day one. A crusty, airy baguette, pâté, cold cuts, pickles, herbs and chili, for about 15,000–70,000 VND. Here are the bánh mì spots I actually send friends to in Da Nang, from a 15k morning stall to the famous giant loaf at Bà Ry.
Quick answer: For a classic, filling bánh mì go to Bánh mì Bà Lan (62 Trưng Nữ Vương, afternoons and evenings). For one huge loaf to share, Bánh mì Bà Ry (36 Đào Tấn). For a cheap local breakfast, the street cart at 51 Phạm Hồng Thái (6:30–9:30 AM, 15k–20k). Hungry at night? The cart at 118 Nguyễn Chí Thanh opens after 4 PM.

1. Bánh mì Bà Lan
- Address: 62 Trưng Nữ Vương, Hải Châu (Google Maps)
- Hours: afternoon to evening (listings say from about 3–3:30 PM until 9–11 PM)
- Price: about 25,000–35,000 VND
- Order: bánh mì thịt chả (pâté, chả lụa, ham, pickles and herbs)
Bà Lan has been making bánh mì in Da Nang for around 30 years, and it is still one of the busiest spots in town. The loaf is crisp, the pâté is rich and they don’t hold back on the cold cuts. Expect a queue around 5–7 PM, when everyone is heading home from work. It moves fast.

2. Bánh mì Bà Ry (Madam Ry)
- Address: 36 Đào Tấn, Hải Châu (Google Maps)
- Hours: from about 6 AM until late (shorter hours on Sundays)
- Price: large loaf 55,000 VND, special 70,000 VND (menu prices)
- Order: the special, and share it
Bà Ry is the bánh mì everyone films. It is a Saigon-style loaf stuffed with homemade liver pâté and layer after layer of cold cuts, and one loaf easily feeds two people. It is the most expensive bánh mì on this list, but you are really paying for two meals.

3. Tâm Bakery
- Address: 113 Đống Đa, Hải Châu (Google Maps)
- Hours: morning to evening (listings vary, roughly 6–9 AM opening until 9:30–10 PM)
- Price: about 10,000–30,000 VND
- Order: bánh mì bơ pate (butter and pâté), and ask for their chili sauce
Tâm Bakery is a small, busy shop near the river end of Đống Đa. Their homemade pâté is served warm, and they do a few fun twists on the classic. Don’t skip the chili sauce. They also sell xôi (sticky rice) if you want a second breakfast.

4. Ba Hưng Bakery
- Address: 40 Lê Văn Hiến, Ngũ Hành Sơn (main shop; there are many branches) (Google Maps)
- Hours: from 5 AM until the evening
- Price: about 10,000–30,000 VND
- Order: roast pork or roast beef bánh mì; they also sell bánh bao (steamed buns)
Ba Hưng has been baking since 1987 and now has branches all over the city. The main shop on Lê Văn Hiến is handy if you are staying near My Khe beach or the Marble Mountains, and it opens early, so it works for a quick breakfast before a day trip. Their bánh mì is made Huỳnh Hoa–style, after the famous Saigon recipe, so expect a loaf loaded with pâté and cold cuts.

5. The morning stall at 51 Phạm Hồng Thái
- Address: 51 Phạm Hồng Thái, Hải Châu (a street cart with no name, just look for the queue)
- Hours: 6:30 AM until about 9:30 AM, or until it sells out
- Price: 15,000–20,000 VND
- Fillings: xíu mại (meatballs), chả, roast pork, egg, even peanut butter
This is the kind of place locals queue at before work. It is a simple street cart with no sign that has been running for about 20 years, and every bánh mì is packed generously for 15k–20k. Set an alarm: it is usually gone by 9:30, sometimes earlier.

Bonus #6: the late-night cart at 118 Nguyễn Chí Thanh
- Address: 118 Nguyễn Chí Thanh, Hải Châu (a street cart on the sidewalk) (Google Maps)
- Hours: shows up after 4 PM and usually sells out by 9 PM
- Price: 15,000 VND for a standard bánh mì, 20,000 VND for the thập cẩm (everything)
- Menu: bánh mì chả (Vietnamese sausage), thịt xíu Huế (Huế-style braised pork), bánh mì bột lọc (tapioca dumplings), thịt kho trứng (braised pork with egg) and ốp la (fried egg)
Most good bánh mì stalls in Da Nang close by mid-morning, which is why this one is such a find. Every afternoon an auntie sets up her cart on Nguyễn Chí Thanh with pots of braised pork, eggs and sausage, toasts the bread in a little oven and fills each loaf to order. Order the thập cẩm with everything and a spoon of the braising sauce. Get there before 8 PM: it is usually gone by 9.

How to order bánh mì like a local
- “Một ổ bánh mì thập cẩm” = one bánh mì with everything.
- “Không cay” = not spicy. “Ít cay” = a little spicy.
- “Không rau” = no herbs (if you don’t like coriander).
- Carry small notes. Most stalls also take bank QR transfers, but cash is quickest.
- Go early for street stalls: the best ones sell out by mid-morning.
