Da Nang Museum 2026: New Location, Opening Hours & Ticket Prices (Bảo Tàng Đà Nẵng)

Danang Museum (Bảo Tàng Đà Nẵng) is Da Nang’s premier cultural institution. It traces local heritage from the Sa Huỳnh period through colonial times, wartime resilience, and modern urban growth.

Update (October 2026): Da Nang Museum has moved. It is now at 42–44 Bạch Đằng and 31 Trần Phú (entrance at 31 Trần Phú), opens Tuesday–Saturday only (8–11:30 AM and 2–5 PM) and costs 50,000₫. This guide has been fully updated. Planning more museum visits? See my best museums in Da Nang guide.

Since 2025, the museum has a beautiful new home at 42–44 Bạch Đằng and 31 Trần Phú on the Han River – the restored former Da Nang City Hall, built by the French in 1898–1900. Inside, nearly 3,000 documents and artefacts, chosen from a collection of about 27,000, tell the story of Da Nang’s nature, history and people, with 3D mapping shows and documentary films along the way.

Whether you’re mapping out a history-rich itinerary or simply seeking ticket info and directions, this guide delivers every detail—hours, prices, tours, must-see displays, and insider tips—to make your visit seamless and memorable.

About Danang Museum (Bảo Tàng Đà Nẵng)

Brief History

Da Nang’s museum collection was founded in 1989. For many years it was housed at 24 Trần Phú, beside the Điện Hải Citadel, in a building that opened in January 2011. In late 2016 the city decided to turn its historic City Hall into the new Da Nang Museum. The museum was inaugurated at its new site on 28 March 2025 and opened to visitors on 1 April 2025.

Architecture and Significance

The main building at 42 Bạch Đằng is itself one of the museum’s most important “exhibits”. Designed by a French architect in neoclassical style, it was built between 1898 and 1900 as the office of the French Mayor of Tourane (the colonial name for Da Nang), later became Da Nang City Hall, and after 1975 served as the city’s administrative headquarters. Two matching three-storey wings were added in the 1960s. Its riverside façade, lit up at night, is now one of the prettiest photo spots on Bạch Đằng.

Mission and Purpose

Danang Museum’s core mission is to educate visitors about Central Vietnam’s cultural evolution and revolutionary heritage. It functions both as a research institute and a public exhibition space, hosting educational programs, workshops, and rotating special exhibitions.
