Da Nang is famous for its beaches, but the city also has beautiful and sacred places of worship. There are giant white Lady Buddha statues overlooking the sea, centuries-old pagodas tucked into marble caves, and peaceful temples in the middle of downtown. Here are 10 of the most beautiful temples and pagodas in Da Nang, plus the essential etiquette for visiting.

• Dress modestly: Cover your shoulders and knees. Some pagodas lend sarongs, but don’t count on it.
• Take off your shoes before entering main worship halls when you see shoes left at the door.
• Keep your voice down, especially during chanting or ceremonies.
• Ask before photographing monks, worshippers, or the inside of main halls.
• Entry is free at most pagodas (Linh Ung Ba Na is the exception, since it’s inside Ba Na Hills). Donation boxes are welcome but optional.

1. Linh Ung Pagoda, Son Tra Peninsula (Lady Buddha)

Tip: Ba Na Hills is often foggy, especially in the rainy season (October–December). Check the forecast and go on the clearest morning you have.

4. Tam Thai Pagoda
